Packers, Wild Card Hopeful??

With Minnesota likely to take the NFC North divisional, it's time to look at our other play off chances. Wild Card. With only 2 losses behind NFC North leaders, the Vikings, our hopes are good. The Steelers look to be with in our reach, the Seahawks might give us a run but after last night's performance, I'm not as worried about the Cardinals as I was earlier. I mean Kurt Warner allowed how many turn overs???? 'Nough said.

Dazed and Confused

Can you believe last weeks game? The buc's over us?? I thought I had miss heard.

Good luck this weekend Packers!!! Bring us another win

Week 9

Here we sit midway thru the season at 4-3, tied with Chicago for our division. Our playoff hopes are starting to fade at the edges. We've fought hard but yet not good enough. As we look ahead at the rest of the season there are a few games with questionable outcomes but we have our work cut out for us. Then you look at the Vikings and well, they don't. How is it that they have such a soft season? I thought teams were to be challenged? That the idea was more about the football than giving teams easy outs? I hear the rebuttal that scheduling is non-bias that any given sunday blah blah blah. But really when you look at the Vikings schedule it's no wonder they are 7-1 (though I had hoped it'd be 5-3 at the very best). Teams need to up the ante they need to play like it's FOOTBALL. Bring some of the old excitement back to the game, don't give us so clear of a picture of how the game will end. Make it a good one very time.

and in the great words of forrest gump: that's all I have to say about that.

Vikings Think They Can Plunder? Not Without a Fight

First Congrats are in order for Aaron Rodgers 1st time as the NFL Player of the Month!!

Now here we goooo... (think peter pan)

Vikings of old ruled the seas, plundered neighbors started wars and were renowned as great seamen. Now Vikings are a NFL team. A team with a starting quarterback that forgot where he started. The man in their pocket doesn't belong there. He belongs in retirement. He lead OUR team and promised us a tearful goodbye but then he didn't follow through, he came back. Vikings are coming into Lambeau with the need to guard there man Cuz we're going after him. This isn't a home coming Favre. You're coming into our town right after a loss, we've got a win. You know we do better at home. You think you know all our plays but we know you too. We've watched for too many years to not know you. Bring the ice Vikings cuz you're going to feel it when we tackle. You'll feel the boos. You'll be going home with your second loss bringing us closer in the division race. I wonder if you'll choke when it's important and throw one of your wild balls like only you do. I wonder if you'll repeat last season and go into a tailspin at the end... Heres to you Favre, for not knowing when to quit and bow out while you're still loved.

Oh and one more thing Favre, Madden picks us to win. What do you think about that?

Packers vs. Vikings 2.0

Here it comes again, only this time our old hero is returning to his old stomping grounds. It won't be friendly Brett. You maybe welcomed back at one point but it's not going to be a homecoming on Sunday. You're going to feel the other side of Lambeau. We may forgive you, prodical son, but not Sunday. No Sunday you are going to feel your just deserts. Get ready to take another loss. We mean business

Week 7

We knew it had to happen. Final score Green Bay Packers 31, Cleveland Browns 3. I'd like to thank Aaron Rodger & Donald Driver for giving us a good game! As for the rest of the Pack GOOD GAME too.

Cleveland, I hope you were taking notes, just because you're the Browns doesn't mean you have to loose all the time, come on guys, find your groove. That could have been a much better game... You play for the NFL it doesn't matter which team, you are still in the NFL. Play like it! Bring your A game show a little spirit.

The Colts also proved little with their win over St. Louis today with a 42-6 win... Ouch. Vikings got handed by the Steelers, Go Big Ben!! Houston found a win over San Fran... I know some of you are crying over that game for sure. and for the last game I've followed up on today, San Diego trumped KC. Now back to my kids, enjoy the rest of the games!

Bring on the Browns

So I don't have much to say about this game. I'm not even that excited about it, it's the Browns. I can't find anything with Cleveland to become excited about. Green Bay is most certainly the better team. I am confident, barring no injuries, we'll come out on top.

That said, Welcome Back Ahman Green! I'm glad to see you come home. I hope all is well with your Daughters and you're ready to play. Who needs the Texans anyways? Like I've always said, once a Packer, always a Packer!
And now it's time for a break down... KIDDING!! But it is Friday and I have gotten in the habit of offering up a new drink for the weekend prep before Game Day. Today we have the Brown:
1 1/4 oz Bourbon
1 1/4 oz Dry Vermouth
2 Dashes of Orange Bitters
-Fill a mixing glass with ice
-Add the Bourbon, Dry Vermouth and the Bitters
-Shake it like it's hot
-Strain inot a rocks glass filled with ice
Enjoy the Game!

On the Way to Cleveland

Watch out Cleveland, we're on the way. We've got something to say, you might not be in the NFC North but we are in the mood to leave it all on the field. We will fight, we will win. It may very well be the first time we've entered Cleveland since 1995 but that doesn't mean your home town advantage can roll over on us. You think there is an advantage to having the cold wind off Lake Erie?? Please! Remember who is coming on the field, we dominate cold weather games. We live for football and no amount of wind or rain or sleet or snow will stop us. We followed our bye with a win, and we'll do it again. We're fresh, we've got a winning record, what do you have Cleveland, 1-5? Bring on the face paint ladies 'cuz the Packers are about to show you how it's done.

3-2

I'm sorry to all the Detroit Lions fans out there that had to add another loss to there record at our win.

To Green Bay, YAY!! another win!! Good Job Guys!!

Saturday, October 17, 2009

On the eve of our Lions game, I find my self feeling slightly guilty about wanting to win. Here we are going up against a team I'm sure we can beat and knowing they really do need the win more than we do. They need it if only for their hope of continuing on. Football like all else in Detroit is hurting right now and if at least for a few moments we can give these people something else to look at... welll is that so wrong?

So here's to tomorrow's game, may the best team win, and Sorry Detroit, I won't apologize if we win.

Green Bay Packers will Weep No More

1 oz. Brandy
1 oz. Dubonnet
1 oz. Lime Juice

Bye-bye to Bye Week

With our bye week in the rap we need to review... Darn those Vikings pulled out another win bringing there season to 5-0 thus far, tying them with the Colts, the Giants & the Bronco's. Chicago is next behind the Vikings for our division with a 3-1, our 2-2 and the Lions 1-4. Looks like we've got some work to do. Also this just in the NFL has changed our Nov 1st rematch start time to 3:15. Make sure you adjust your schedule accordingly.

I'm sure the Lion's are going to be itching for a win this weekend but sorry guys so are we.

Tuesday, October 6, 2009

2-2

So Favre brought his A game last night and what did we bring??? Our very own B game. We weren't ready and it showed. At least we've got a bye this week to lick our wounds. Hit the books boys don't let Favre wipe the field with us in November!

Monday, October 5, 2009

The Brett Farve Affect

Photobucket

In three days we go into Minnesota and visit hostile Viking territory. We've been paying attention the Vikings are 3-0 so far this season and they've got our old go to guy, the one we thought was our hero for so long, Brett Farve. So far this season and pre-season Brett has shown us he still has great form for an old guy. He is playing with renewed zest. As angry as I am about his returning AGAIN and this time for the Vikings, I can't help but to realize this guy still has it. He still is Brett Farve of the past years, he still has his arm, he still has the ability to pull plays out of no where. He still leaves me in awe when watching him. It's more the fact that he keeps doing it that gets me now. So as we enter this game Sunday we've got a slight upper hand. Aaron watched and was groomed under Brett, the team knows his playing style better than the Vikings. They know his humor and his anger. They know HIM.

Lets send our boys our thoughts and prep them up. Sunday's game will be fought as much on the field as in our heads before hand.

Go Green & Yellow!!! Bring the Packers another win on the road!

Rams Rams Rams....

Okay Ram fans... Are you ready for some football?? 'Cuz here comes a team worthy of a good game. Green Bay Packers are itching for a good game. We've studied, we're ready. Bring on the football

Rams

It was a cold and raining night... No just kidding!

The first time we encountered the Rams they were still playing in Cleveland back in '37. Yes 1937. So both teams have been around the block a few times. Of the 89 games we've played we have won 42 of them and tied twice making these match ups fairly even. Knowing in the past the Rams have won a few more games than us doesn't hurt, after all, you only really learn when you lose right??? (yeah I'm groaning too) We've not met the Rams since 2007 and then Brett and company lead us to a win in their home territory. For us a few things have changed. Can Aaron lead our team to a win on the road against an even team? We shall see in a few days.

As for the Safety question... I'm sure McCarthy will fill the whole before game time adequately enough. Nick Collins looks ready for the option of playing and will be at the game if nothing else to lead moral support. The move in yesterdays roaster wasn't over surprising. It's Aaron's team to lead now, he's got to be comfortable with his mates just as they need to be comfortable with him and his ability. We'll never pull out a winning season if we're not all on the same page. With the addition of Matt Giordano we ad another player Aaron has a seemingly good ability to play with. With that we say good-bye to Aaron Rouse and hello Giordano.

With less than 3 days left until Sunday's match up, it's time to hit the practise field and study up the play books. We're looking forward to Sunday's game, boys. Bring us home a win.

Go Packers!

Cincinnati Really??? L, 24-31

Is anyone else still in wild disbelief that the Bengals actually pulled out a win last Sunday? I'm still licking my wounds from Sunday's loss. Bengal Ochocinco actually played well and deepened my dislike of him. Sorry dude, take it down a notch would ya. Anybody that feels the need to change his name to his number has some major spotlight issues.

Shaking this loss off & realizing that the Vikings won another is irritation in a bottle, want some? As we hit the road this week to venture down into Ram land, focus needs to be deviated from Brett and his win over Detroit to taking on the Rams in their own lair. The Rams have been a pretty solid team in the past and are sure to be looking for a win after their 2 point loss to the RedSkins last weekend. They looked good in the pre-season with a 3-1 record and their only loss coming from the claws of the Falcons but have failed to win in regular season yet. It's hard to go in to this game overly cocky when they managed a win over Cincinnati in the pre-season :-) and are sure to be hungry for a win. Time to hit the tapes boys! Get your strategy down and remind the Rams that the Green Bay Packers are a team hankering to play some ball!

Bengals, Cat's or Kitten's?

With the Bengals ending 2008 with a 4-11-1 season and opening this season with a loss, I'm sure they are ready to see Chad Ochocinco be remembered for more than just a RIDICULOUS name change. The smack talk has started on Bengals.com and I'm sure they actually believe some of it. However we all Know the Green Bay Packers are just a better Team. We will win. Our season's haven't gotten worse and worse the past 3 seasons. We've at least held our own.... Okay okay we could have had a better last year but Hey it's 2009 and it's the year to Shine. Aaron is ready to play and when we're done with Kitten's there will be no purring.

Go Green & Yellow! The Green Bay Packers are Ready to Welcome the Bengals back to Lambeau... in 3 days ;-)

A Little Something Fun

Lee, the Packers have a tradition at Lambeau Field of playing the song "Band on the Drum All Day" by Todd Rundgren after every Packer touchdown. It seems to have become an unofficial Packer anthem. When did this tradition begin? I started noticing it in 1995, but it may have started much earlier. Any idea? - Dave, Racine, Wis.

Dave, just for the record, the name of the song is "Bang on the Drum All Day," substituting a 'g' for the 'd' in the note above. (I'm sure that was what was intended.) And, yes, I think you can safely say that it has become an "an unofficial Packers anthem." Mike McKenna, the coordinator of Packers game day entertainment at Lambeau Field confirmed your observation, also noting that it was 1995 that it made its debut at "Lambeau." "To my knowledge," he added, "we were the first team to play it. Since then, some high-powered offensive teams, such as the St. Louis Rams under Mike Martz and the Indianapolis Colts, have been playing the same song by Todd Rundgren, but they were copying us."

Thanks Chicago!

Wow what a game!! What a season opener for us! Thank you Chicago for bringing a GOOD GAME to the field last night. I for one was on the edge of my seat going into the final 2 mins. Al Harris, Thank you for that interception! Boys you played a great game last night. I hope y'all were taking notes, though, remember we play them again in week 14. Enjoy your victory you certainly earned it in my book!

On another note... The Denver Bronco's took down the Cincinnati Bengals 12-7 in a game that came down to the final 2 minutes also. We took notes Cincinnati, we'll see you in 6 days.

Final look around the Packers Faithful Division, The Minnesota Vikings took home a win yesterday against the Cleveland Browns. The Browns scored first, giving me false hope, but in the end Favre & company pulled out a win of 34-20. I guess our old boy still has some steam left. We'll see him in week four, see how much he likes the other side of our line. Remember, Brett, Once a Packer, ALWAYS a Packer. When you go in the hall of fame it will be as a Green Bay Packer, not a Falcon, a Jet or a Viking.

Green Bay Ramps Up for Chicago

With two more days til the tete a tete with Chicago nerves are starting to hum with excitement. Will the season opener live up to the hype? Will two teams with the OLDEST rivalry be able to perform with past seasons glory? Hell yes they will!!

McCarthy is focused on Special Teams and I trust he's right. With most of the recent years games being decided with Special Teams assistance, it's a smart game plan. The Packers look ready to 'dance' so let's wish Shawn Slocum good luck and get ready for the grid iron! This being Slocum's first game as the Special Teams Leader, he's got to feel the pressure of the Packers Faithful that this showing will make a lasting impression and a promise to what's to come this season.

2 days and counting until kick off, Go Packers!

Sunday Night Football

Not for the first time, we are to open the Season against the Chicago Bears. What will be different however is there will not be John Madden. With four more days to go and a fact sheet to read I found myself wondering what about John Madden? Where will he be this coming Sunday? I had a chance meeting with him once, he stayed at the hotel I worked at. To say I was in ah is an understatement. He is The Man, The Myth, The Legend.

So Chicago, I'm ready to welcome you to Green Bay. I'm ready to meet you on the field for the 179th time, but I'm not ready to start the game without John Madden. Here's to the man that brought us the Turducken!

Tuesday, September 8, 2009

Good Bye 18

After all is said and done Brian Brohm didn't make the final cut. I guess all that playing vs. Tenn should have been a sign. Add the loss and it's really not hard to see how they got there. Here is the list of the cuts, some of them we're surprised to have to see go:

Wide Receiver Jake Allen,

Quarterback Brian Brohm,

Cornerback Trever Ford,

Guard/Tackle Andrew Hartline,

Wide Receiver Kole Heckendorf,

Linebacker Danny Lansanah,

Running Back Kregg Lumpkin,

Defensive End Alfred Malone,

Wide Receiver Ruvell Martin,

Tackle Jamon Meredith,

Nose Tackle Dean Muhtadi,

Linebacker Cyril Obiozor,

Safety Anthony Smith,

Running Back Tyrell Sutton,

Nose Tackle Anthony Toribio

Defensive end Justin Harrell, cornerback Pat Lee, tight end Evan Moore and safety Charlie Peprah were placed on injured reserve.

Cheers to those saying good-bye to Green Bay. The Packers are grateful for you coming out to play, maybe next time

Last Pre-season Game

With the Tenn. game nearing, many Packers Faithful are wondering who will be playing and who will they be saying goodbye too. Everyone has got their opinions but for once I don't. I'm just ready for the game to really think about it. All I know for sure is they'd better let Aaron open then figure out what they'll do about Matt & Brian & playing time. It sure would feel nice going into Chicago with a 4-0 pre-season. We've got the nuts and bolts, our boys need to have this game to figure out the rhythm for them. Got to get it to 100% and we've only got 10 days between games to figure out how we're doing. One plus going into Chicago that we hold right now is the 3-0 where as they are 2-1. We've got some momentum, lets not loss it ;-)

Pre-season Week 3

Just as a recap, we won!!!!

Packers 44 over Cardinals 37. It was close in the second half. Looked like they just might catch up a few times but in the end, the old green & yellow pulled thru to bring us to 3-0 in the pre-season! Next up the Tenn. Titan's on 9/3.

The Titan's lost this week to the Browns 17-23. They had a stronger first half than second and seemed to lose momentum as Cleveland maintained, could it have been the Young effect?

I'm eager to see McCarthy/Aaron (and maybe Matt) Take on this team in less than 4 days! Hoping to make it a 4-0 pre-season.

Friday, August 28, 2009

3-0

3-0 Feels pretty good, even if it's just the pre-season.

We had a strong first half, loved the boys. Was looking forward to the second and felt my bottom go out when we hadn't scored by the start of the 4th. Then AZ nearly CAUGHT UP! Oh, wow! Not AGAIN, we can't go down like the Favre years or it'll just show it wasn't Favre but the team/coaching staff that let wins slip from our grasp the past few years. Never fear however we won!!!! 44-37, Wonder what ole McCarthy was thinking having Matt play so much of the second half? Wonder if he's glad he did or not. Hope Aaron is smiling, he had a stronger half :-)

8 More Hours

Nearly Kick-Off time!!!

Make sure the Bud Light is chilled and get ready to down some Cardinal Cocktails because the Cardinals are going DOWN!!

Cardinal Cocktails:

1 oz creme de cassis
Red Wine (Pinot Noir or Merlot)
Ice

Happy Packer Day!!

yes any game day is Packer Day

Wednesday, August 26, 2009

AZ Here We Come

With nearly a day til kick off left I found myself wondering what the Cardinals have in store for us. It's the first time we've met on the field in the last 3 years and last time we won, though we had home field advantage. It was also a regular season game with McCarthy/Favre at the helm. This time we are there, without Favre. Can Aaron pull through? Will we warm up to the kid even if he doesn't? Yes he's a Packer! But still Fridays Game should be one to watch.

Come on McCarthy, pull out a win!

Vikings

So I signed onto my e-mail this morning only to be met with a Vikings fan comment. What?! Peeps, haven't y'all been listening? Just say no to Vikings! Go Packers All the WAY!!!

I think it's time for a new cheese head... My cat ate the last one. It was kinda funny!

Winning

So far so good. Off to a 2-0 pre-season start! Wishing the Vikings weren't tied with us though. Makes for good football but still would like the advantage of having at least one win over them. I know it's early yet too. We'll get there. We'll go the distance.

Go Green & Gold!

Tuesday, August 18, 2009

As I prepared to sign-in to my e-mail this morning I saw startling news.... Brett Favre to play for the Vikings. Instantly, I was red HOT! Does this man not know when to stop? Do I or anyone else need to remind him of last season? Or how about the last 5 years?
I admit, Favre was my Hero at first. I loved him in the 90's but he hasn't played to form in sometime. The interceptions are out of control and his lust for the game seems to have gone to the wayside.
This year he returns with questions about his arm. It's untried after surgery. He hasn't really played with the team he's signed with and pre-season has already begun. His ego is bigger than the state of Minnesota and yet he's back. How does he think he'll do with a team that has already bonded? He's discarding two potential starting QB's and he'll be 40 in two months, old for football standards. This does not bode well for him.
Let's not also forget that he is indirectly attacking the team that gave him the chance to be great to start with. Greenbay signed him when he was still very green himself. We loved him and watched him grow. We cheered for him and with him in 97 and told him it'd be alright in 98, there was always next year. When his father died, we all cried for him and were proud he still played that day. When retirement first came up we all prayed for one more season, and repeated that prayer season after season. Then when he finally said good-bye we mourned the loss of our great Brett. That post season we held our breathe as rumors whirled he'd be back, in April and again in May. When we went with Aaron, some where angry, but Favre waited to long, he'd strung us along for to long. He had chances to comeback and he drug it out. What were we to do? Loss Aaron? then what would happen the following season? Apparently the same thing. I'm tired of it, Brett Favre. Retire already!! And this time STAY RETIRED!!! Give us time to forgive you for dragging us through the last few years & how dare you go to Minnesota!?! Really? We'll be waiting come Nov 1st, and you'll see how it feels to be on the other teams walking into Lambeau.

Tell me, is anyone else as irritated about this as I am?
